(in the end) ghosts run out of memory, photograph, diasec, 69 x 95 cm, 2016 & graphite, 1980/2016
(in the end) ghosts run out of memory presents two things: a photograph, and block of graphite typical of that used to make a frotage – a simple print taken from reality. The graphite is part of a family archive. In spite of fulfilling many tropes of photographic portraiture, the photograph does neither represent nor define the identity of the depicted person. It rather lets us think of dualities: woman versus man, young versus post-mortal representation.
